With a sharp rise in home equity and increased homeownership rates in both 2020 and 2021, the median household wealth of Hispanics increased substantially during the pandemic, according to a recent report from the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals® (NAHREP). That follows a 138% increase between 2013 and 2019—well above the national average.
The Hispanic household homeownership rate reached 48.4% in 2021 and is on track to reach 50% by 2024, and real estate acquisitions play an important role in the growth of household wealth, based on the NAHREP 2022 State of Hispanic Wealth Report. In turn, 80% of NAHREP members have a net worth of at least $150,000—more than four
times the median net worth of the Latino population nationwide—and nearly one-third have a net worth of more than $1 million.
